May 29, 2008 and BLOW UP!

May 29, 2008

I find out from Aaron that people are heading over to Scott’s. I ask him for a ride and I get a ride knowing that others will have a hard time getting in because Scott doesn’t want any people there. Josh and Hasan are there already. Spamps calls me on the way and he asks me about it. I say that we all know Scott doesn’t want many people there. I tell him to find out if others want to go and to call Scott or me back. He never does and seems to hold a grudge about it from his away message.

We sit outside, have a few beers, and Scott has to wake up, so we’re there for less than two hours and leave at 11:30. I give Miah a call and he seems fine with things when I speak about Scott’s. I later find out that he wasn’t…. No idea why he tries to hold grudges and not be truthful.

This is also from the same kid that didn’t call me when he was at Spamps BBQ after I repeatedly told him to. Same kid that got angry at me for inviting him to Astoria when he was home and ignored how I was being the nice person when I gave him the evidence and the truth about it.

It’s unfortunate that Scott has his ways about his house, but it’s his house. Are people really going to sway him to change it? No. So the awkwardness has to continue about whether blank people can be invited and whether he’s truthful about it or annoyed about it.

May 30, 2008

I make myself a huge burger and put it on Facebook. It’s a sight to be proud of.

I get a call to go to basketball at 4:00. We play with Aaron, Hasan, and Miah. When Aaron leaves, stupidness arises. First, we talk about suicide runs. They can’t get it to their head that my point is that people should have a consistent sprinting speed instead of pooping out by the end of a suicide. When you exert too much force in certain plays, you lose stamina for the rest of your time until your pulled out and you basically lose so much performance.

We then get into the debate of a triathlon. Evan walks over to say Hi. Now this is seriously a case of the Emperor’s New Clothes. I don’t care how much I hate biking. I don’t care how much Hasan does swimming or biking, there is NO chance that he’d beat me in a triathlon.

The fact that Miah and Evan side with him couldn’t be a clearer example of Hasan being the emperor. They just underestimate how much being 150 lbs. overweight and morbidly obese affects one’s performance at the clearest test, endurance. There is just no way his body can handle that amount of cardiovascular strain with something that only tests endurance. His “skill” in biking and swimming is a moot advantage.

I then realize that Miah and especially Hasan seem visibly angry at me over this debate. I mean seriously… We might as well been debating whether the Purple Teletubie was gay. I explain that the debate is just a joke to me and seriously means nothing. They shouldn’t be taking offense and getting shaken by it. Also, the only person to blame the anger on is me, and for what? Arguing that I can play team soccer better than Hasan?

What is more asinine than debating hypothetical sports predictions between an obscenely overweight person that can’t move in a sport (Miah and Hasan seem to ignore how there are almost no athletes with his build and how sports involve mobility, speed, and endurance, especially in something like the triathlon, soccer, and football wide receiver, which they argued in favor of Hasan…) and a 5’5 non-athletic Asian kid with little to no skills at almost all conventional sports (though I did take some track and field sports).

I realize that I maybe should’ve tried further to stop the stupid debate, though I did try a bit. I did say that we should stop because they were clearly taking this dumb stuff personally in their weird mind. Though they did get me to reignite it and go into their plans to get them angrier…

Why 6:00ish, Hasan gives Miah and I a ride back. I realize that Hasan is now in crazy angry mode. Usually, he’ll just make criticisms like, “You don’t spend any money asshole,” but they don’t get far and it’s just taken in and mostly ignored. However, there are times when he just gets bat shit angry.

He first tries to stop me from saying anything in the car and constantly threatens to kick me out when I’m trying really hard to keep the subject out of our debate and lighten up their boiling anger. One example of how Hasan is in his mode is when he says stuff like, “You know what, you’ve been a douchebag for the past seven months back from Prague. You’ve changed man.” And when asked how so, there’s no answer.

Miah out of curiosity sniffs Hasan’s cloves. Hasan forms some collateral from his anger on me by saying, “If you’re going to smell them, don’t. You’re half way to smoking them. You know you want to.” Miah then has to apologize for not smoking a cigarette…

I guess he then realizes that Miah is siding with him and has to take back his statement and apologizes. I try to again lighten up things and ask silly questions on how Miah perceives the smell of cigarettes. Even harmless questions like that get a whip of, “You’re not allowed to speak in this car” statement from Hasan.

I then try to defuse the situation by saying that we should all ignore the dumb argument and there’s nothing to be angry about. I take no offense to being seen as athletically inadequate to Hasan and neither should Hasan be for the disagreement over it, especially when it’s two on one and Miah agrees with Hasan!

Hasan defends how being angry and Miah jumps onto his side. Miah is a non-confrontational individual, though he did side with Hasan to fight against me. And his apathy is replaced by anger over me and siding with Hasan’s ridiculous mood.

A situation of this was when Hasan “split” the group and hung out with Scott, Evan, and CNF and went out of his way to ditch others in the group. I felt that this was unfair when I saw Hasan as the friend and so did others. However, he was not treating us as such by constantly ignoring others. While Miah was actually in the middle of this, he took a neutral side. I asked him about how unfair the treatment was and he just said, “I don’t want to take a side.”

That’s just a lack of bollocks. He was one involved being ditched and I’m assuming he felt that Hasan was still a friend. Either he agreed that Hasan should still be considered a friend for ignoring part of the group, or he disagreed and found that Hasan was being a douche.

Miah jumps to Hasan’s rescue because he’s also got a soft shell. He feels that people should be allowed to be angry over anything and not allowing for that is unacceptable. Then again, this is coming from someone that actually got angry at me this semester when I made stupid homosexual jokes about Miah getting his cock sucked or something.

First of all, that shouldn’t even be funny to most. If anything, they were jokes you’d brush off as stupid or shake your head in disappointment at how stupid the jokes were. Instead, he found the strangest route. “Let’s get angry at Darwin for it!”

I told him, it’s a really dumb joke and if you don’t find it funny, fine. I could care less. Somehow his logic went, “It wasn’t funny, therefore (This is where things don’t make sense) I’m offended by you making these comments.” Why take harmless, bad gay jokes are personal offense, I have no idea. Maybe someone is insecure about his sexuality… (Again, a retarded bad joke)

I explain that it’s bullshit to get angry over certain things. That’s like when CNF got angry over “indie cred.” He felt that the term shouldn’t be used because it’s not funny. If he’s angry over people making fun of him, fine. Bolanos and I have curbed a lot of actions to appease that, giving him a double standard of protection while others received jokes and criticisms (In the end, what are dudes supposed to do other than bash each other? Are we supposed compliment how pretty our hair is?) However, feeling that something wasn’t funny meant that CNF got to decide no one should say it anymore. That’s bullshit to get angry over.

Two recent times I remember Hasan getting shit mad was with driving. He simply didn’t know the shortest way and took a longer way that he knew from experience. When asked about this, he got very defensive and obviously pulled the “You don’t drive car, you’re a fucking asshole, you shouldn’t speak.” Both times there was just silence in the car because Hasan was just so mad that not even changing the subject could work. He feels it’s the right way, fine, he’s driving. I was only bringing up how the other way is shorter. There’s a disagreement. It’s over. How Hasan has to take that as he’s inadequate or something? That’s bullshit to get angry over.

What if the group one day forced Alon to imbibe alcohol or he’d be ostracized? “Yo man, you’re such a loser, you’re a joke. You’re 19 now, we’re all having a drink, you gotta have one.” While curiosity and questions have arisen over this, it’s a nonissue. If the group did get angry at him and lashed out at him? That’s bullshit to get angry over.

How about Miah? What if we all called him a bitch and felt he was less of a friend because he decided to hang out with Lauren until 12:00 and stay at home. Instead he could’ve let her go earlier and had the rest of the night doing something. Could people actually feel he should be “bros over hos.” I guess. Should people gang up against him, call him names, come up with how “he’s changed,” not let him speak in a car, and take his motives as a personal attack? Fuck no, he has his priorities. If you want to ask him about them, fine. Maybe he’ll be open explain them and they can be discussed. But to go further? THAT’S BULLSHIT TO GET ANGRY OVER!

So basically, Miah is unequivocally wrong. There are things you can’t be angry over. It’s just not socially accepted by society and the group. So basically Miah’s crazy views how to treat people’s anger latched on to Hasan’s illogical anger.

I’ll take bullshit any day from Hasan, but him getting this angry is unfair. He ends the car ride with saying we shouldn’t speak for two weeks. Hopefully he lightens up. Miah should to, though he’s not one to usually have these anger fits, but he can.

I return home and speak to Spamps about the blow up and all that. First of all, he does agree that a triathlon is all about endurance and whatever Hasan does, the morbid obesity is just too large a disadvantage. Anyway, off that stupid argument.

Basically, he understood that Hasan gets his fits sometimes and how it’s bullshit to get angry over certain things. Let’s hope things settle down.

PS: Bolanos on the May 21st predicts Bill Richardson to be VP.

May 26, 2008

May 26, 2008

I wake up late and go shopping for food. Get some goods so I can make linguini with clam sauce, eggplant Portobello lasagna, and homemade pizza.

I get back and figure from Miah’s away that he’s at Spamps’ BBQ. I speak to Kenny says he assumed there would’ve been a call made or something by Spamps. Whatever, not a big deal we weren’t invited.

Hasan surprisingly calls me early for plans at 6:30. I call Miah and it turns out that he is at Spamps’. I repeatedly ask him to make sure that he’ll call me when they’re done eating. I go out to practice for my roadtest next week and realize eventually that I haven’t gotten a call back from him for the entire night. Well, what can ya say.

Aaron then tells me that Scott didn’t really want that many people going to his place. That’s why I felt it was awkward to call him, though I did need to ask Spamps if he wanted to go because he’s a ride. Then again, I was nice enough to ask Miah and give him a call. (Ironies?)

Kenny and I speak about it and we figure that basically “problems” arisen that sometimes may be pointed at me can actually be based on how people deal with things like girls, by keeping things quiet and behind others backs. I guess honesty isn’t a well liked virtue amongst the others like how I operate with it. Would be a lot easier if Scott pulled an ultimatum and clearly stated how he wanted to deal with us four in the car. Instead, people probably think Scott’s fine with people trying to slip into his house when it’s truthfully against his will.

Kenny tries to get things going and we get Alon to pick him and I up. We then are able to contact Spamps and we go to pick him up. I take the high road and call Miah after not getting a call back the whole night.

When I call Spamps, it turns out that Miah’s still there and no one knew this. They then have to decide like women if they want to get out of the house and we have to sit in the car waiting for them. I try to figure things out with Miah and how he didn’t call back. Granted, he has phone issues and that’s why he didn’t pick up, but he basically blows off his bullshit as usual.

DnD is closed so we go back to Spamps’ place. A few interesting conversations are brought up. First is how Spamps sees that he eats “correctly.” He first says that he eats two meals a day. That is already something to laugh at. You’re supposed to eat six small meals a day to keep a consistent flow of food instead of stuffing oneself and hoarding back up hours later at the next meal. He gives the impression that it’s unreasonable to do that, but an obese person might say that about not eating 4500 calories a day.

A good eating regiment would involve the small meals, getting proteins from non-red meats like chicken, fish, beans, soy, eating darker green vegetables that have substance unlike watery lettuce and bullshit, and eating whole grains instead of nutrition less white shit.

Granted, I’ve tried to go as far as possible with this and it isn’t easy. Not because it physically is any harder to reach for cottage cheese and fruit instead of eggs/bacon, but because people like sweet/fatty/unhealthy food. People are lazy, what can you do?

Also, diet is pretty useless without exercise. It’s like trying to play basketball being a good shooter yet not being able to dribble. The two go hand in hand with basketball and the same goes with exercise and nutrition for fitness.

Granted, this is all from the view of someone that doesn’t actually abide by these suggestions. I don’t exercise at all other than our pick up basketball and I’ve easily gained at least 5 lbs this semester.

Another interesting thing is how I poked about how I needed to pick up cigarettes. I know that someone is going to jump on that and Miah does. I then throw out how I’ve smoked a pack in two weeks. Going to hookah a few times easily beats that out. We’ve also been there like 5 times since we’ve been back. Hypocrisy much?

Miah then says how about, “You smoke weed?” I correct him for the millionth time because of his weird biases. I am by no means of the imagination a “smoker” in that sense. That’s like saying someone who plays videogames at a friend’s house when there’s nothing to do is a “gamer.” Or to call us “b ballers” from our “faux” basketball games. Classifying to that extent involves ritualistic behavior instead of a sporadic, spontaneous nature. I’ve probably smoked like 4 times since the beginning of the semester. Miah has easily taken more damage in his lungs from doing a single BBQ.

At Alex’s, I spend some time on YouTube looking for child porn/jailbait. This is based on how I’ve been introduced to 4chan. The place is weird as hell and has channels for people interested in guns, trains, television, gay anime pornography, child pornography, boobs, etc. In the end, most of the stuff there is random and boring unless you’re specifically interested in one of the categories. Even then, as assumed, most people aren’t funny and the shit just gets boring.

Most of the fun comes from trying to form your own comedy out of what people post.

May 28, 2008

At 3:00ish, Miah calls me about how his mother kicked him out of the house to get a job. Apparently, she wants him to just walk all the way to the park service and get a job, when a simple phone call would do the same. Whatever, he walks down to my house and we go for a walk. We call Spamps, but he has to take a shower and whatnot business. Alon is with Kenny and David Simon hanging around.

Miah and I decide to walk around in H Mart. Alon and the two join us. I get Miah to try dried seaweed, which is used in sushi. He also tries dried stringy squid. I’m surprised he’s willing to do so, but doesn’t like either.

We then randomly see Miah’s mother in the store and sneak ourselves out so that Miah doesn’t have to deal with her. Hasan then comes from class. Alon and David leave. Kenny, Miah, Hasan, and I sit in the car for a while until we figure to get dinner.

There is actually a good plan to go to H Mart, get Korean BBQ goods and make it ourselves. We could either go to Kings Point Park again to do it or Kenny said we could use his house for it. Kenny randomly asks Hasan if he’ll pay for BBQ when we go to a restaurant, Hasan gives a faint, joking Yes.

On a whim, we start driving towards a restaurant in Queens. I realize that I’m not going to eat there and suggest the buying from H Mart idea, but it’s ignored. On the way, Hasan gets pulled over passed the Great Neck border. He isn’t wearing a seatbelt and the officer sees it. Miah and I bring up the seat belt law because we’ve debated it before and I find it useful in debates on liberty. I think it’s one of the clearest violations of personal liberties for such a simple harmless crime. The fine is $90.

When we get to the restaurant, it’s obviously expensive. Last break that I went with Hasan and Kenny, it ended up costing almost $20 a person. I figure that I’m probably not getting anything because of how expensive the menu is. Kenny then says, “Okay, we’re getting 4 orders of the $25 beef BBQ. Otherwise, it won’t be enough food.” I mean… That’s $100 without tax and tip…

I’m like, well I’m not eating since it’s that expensive. Then Kenny seems to come to an epiphany that Hasan’s not paying for a $100 dinner. He then points out that he has $1 in his wallet.

There’s then awkward silence. I say, “Well it seems to me that people don’t want to eat here.” In the end, Kenny has to borrow a lot of money, so I’m not sure he wanted to stay. Miah’s annoyed the rest of the day he has to pay so much for dinner. I’m not sure why they don’t say something about leaving because we haven’t even ordered yet….

I decide not to order anything. As with Korean BBQ, they give a lot of side dishes. I eat the generic Asian salad of lettuce, tomato, and ginger dressing. There’s also a congee thing.

The other side dishes are pretty much shitty. There’s a straight scallion dish, some kimchi stuff, a weird potato salad with fake crab, raisins, and peanuts. Basically out of all the 8 side dishes or so, only 2 are edible. One is a heavily seasoned tofu that does a good job imitating meat and has a lot of flavor. Another is a simple dark leaf vegetable cooked with garlic. I eat some of a grilled whole fish with head and tail in place, but it’s boney and has too strong of a fishy flavor.

I end up paying $5 for my part of picking at the side dishes. Almost all of the dishes are left untouched other than me trying them and staying away. The three have to pay $27 each for their meals.

We then go to Ralph’s for ice. On the way, Miah calls Lauren. We pass Creedmoor mental hospital. Lauren asks what we’re talking about. He says, “Creedmoor.” Hasan says, “Yeah, we’re talking about the Korean War.” Hahaha.

I shout out, “No way, we’re talking about Green Ore! GREEN ORE!”

We later drop Kenny off at Alon’s so they can watch the Yankees game. We wait around for Spamps to finish dinner and we go there to play some Smash. Hasan for some reason leaves early at 9:00. I run home to switch to jeans because it’s going to get cold and for a snack. When I get back, Miah, Spamps, and I switch off Call of Duty, which is really fun.

Alon then comes and we try out his MLB game. It’s pretty good, though I lose badly to Spamps. We then play a really annoying tennis game. We switch to four player CoD until Alon wants to go home. We play on 4chan for a while until we depart before 3:00.

May 25, 2008

May 25, 2008

I try to get the night going and call some people and I don’t get pick ups so it seems like the night is dying. Before 11:00, Aaron calls and says “people” are at DnD. I’m left relying on Spamps for a ride. I call him and he says he’s good. I then call Miah and he says he’s free. While we’re waiting forever in front of Miah’s house, I realize to ask Kenny and he says he’s free.

We get to DnD and it turns out that no one’s there. I call Aaron and he says that people went to Scott’s and that I need to find out from Scott if us four can go. I tell Spamps to call because it’s real awkward to deal with that and I did it the night before.

Spamsp calls and Scott says it’s fine. When we get there, Hasan is surprisingly there after not picking up my calls. I work on a few beers and Hasan attempts a bet, 3 beers in a minute and he actually does it.

Evan, Avi, and Josh are there too. We stay there for a while until people decide they need food. People go to Cherry Valley. Hasan, Spamps, Kenny, Miah, and I go to McDonald’s for food instead. Hasan drops us off at Spamps’ car and Hasan leaves. We ring Scott’s door and he comes and says they’re watching a movie. We decide that we don’t want to stay that long and leave. I ask what’s happening the next day. Spamps says that his fam is having a BBQ though not many can go.

May 22, 2008

May 22, 2008

First of all, weather.com is stupid. I try to plan the BBQ for the past few days and it keeps saying that there might be rain. I look outside multiple times and it’s the complete opposite, clear skies and sunny.

I guess at least Friday is 100% good weather, though we’ll see how bad people are and if it actually ends up happening.

Speaking about how bad people are. So Miah, Spamps, and I have draft packs from a while ago and should have enough to do a 4 man draft. I ask Miah about them and he tells me which packs he has. I then look and find mine.

I ask Spamps about his packs with the prospect of maybe drafting yesterday. He tells me which ones he has and says they’re “next to him.” That night, I confirm with Miah, Spamps, and Hasan that we will be doing the draft and that Spamps’ usual dinner plans won’t interrupt things because Miah slows down the draft a bit.

Now comes the next day, I get a complete 180% for him. He now tells me that he might have to eat at home… Okay…

He then tells me that he needs to find the packs and basically lied out of laziness that he actually had them. He gives me a BS excuse about “I said they were next to me, in the cabinet, I didn’t actually look for or see them at all.” That’s playing with words, when you say something is next to you, that means you have it basically in your hands and its there. He should’ve just said he didn’t have them, had to look for them, and shouldn’t have agreed to the plans last night.

I try to needle him into finding them or finding out whether he has to eat at home, but I think laziness sets in again for him. This is also with the fact that we can have other plans going on with basketball, which Aaron has been suggesting. Sigh…

May 23, 2008

Hasan surprisingly calls me early before 2:00. He said the day before not to call him until 4:30 because of his unique sleep schedule. We planned for the BBQ today.

I try to gather people and getting Miah and Spamps together and moving is rough. Miah for some reason isn’t picking up and responding, so Spamps and I have to wait a while and get to his house past 3:30. We spend a long time picking up all the random things for the BBQ.

We then go to Waldbaum’s to meet Hasan and Aaron. Hasan says no one wants to do the BBQ and we call Alon, who’s back. We buy hot dogs, burgers, drinks, chips, and a $12 watermelon. It’s not a bad deal at $6/person since we had 8 people with Tomer and Kenny coming along too. I take money from two people, but end up paying $10. Whatever.

We get to Kings Point Park and have a good BBQ. Eating burgers is good.

We get to DnD parking lot at 8-9:00 after the BBQ. We get a call from Stefan. He speaks to Aaron about going to Arthur’s and Aaron departs for that gathering. The rest of us go to Spamps’ basement to play Wii Smash.

I play it for a lot, but stop after a while and look for something else to do. Miah and I surf 4chan for a long time. Aaron calls at 1:30 saying that things at Arthur’s is ending. I meet with him and we go to Wendy’s for a burger. When we get back, everyone is leaving Spamps’.

We decide to go to Astoria with Hasan, Miah, Aaron, and I. We find out that “Warehouse” stopped serving hookah at the time. We go to another place and the service is horrible. It takes a long time to get an order in. We wait past 5 minutes for our simple hookahs and when we ask about it, it turns out that the waitress forgot our order… At 3:00 when the place is pretty empty.

We end up leaving. I get Aaron to buy me a Molson XXX. I work on that in the parking lot. Miah gets dropped off and the rest of us three smoke a blunt. I get super high and get back by 4:30 and immediately pass out.

Monday 19 May 2008

May 19, 2008

So fucking CNF tries to IM me and say something. Fucking asshole thinks he’s better than me and the shit I said ain’t true. Aaron tries to do the same and he is in the same boat. They should learn better and work at the true ways of how I work.

No, that isn’t true. Apparently my “controversy” causes better readership of the blog. Maybe I should keep up with it?

Anyway, true story of things. CNF IMed me about it. We decide that we should just speak about it and it’ll easily come to a decent conclusion because we’re somewhat reasonable peoples. There’s no reason why there shouldn’t be discourse between us over it. He’s been a good man for me/the group.

After getting back into cooking through mostly Top Chef and Ramsay’s shows (Kitchen Nightmares and such), I find that summer is a good time to reinvigorate my interest in cooking. It’s been something that I’ve been into since a kid when I watched all these cooking shows.

I cook for the fam for the day. Brunch:

Scrambled eggs a la Gordon Ramsay (YouTube for how he does it)

Sautéed mushrooms

Bacon

Toast

Dinner:

Burger (it had an egg, garlic powder, minced garlic, A1, hot sauce, salt, pepper) with fresh mozzarella and grilled onions and mushrooms

Latkes/home fries (weird attempt at latkes that I’ve tried for the first time)

For the night, Hasan, Aaron, Bolanos, Miah, and I go to Astoria for the third night in less than a week. We play a $5 poker game where Aaron wins and Bolanos gets second.

We then play Chinese Poker with keeping score based on place and number of games played (loser gets knocked for the fifth player to play). I end up getting last and Hasan gets first. The rest is a bit confusing to distinguish.

We go to Kennedy Fried Chicken for the second time in three nights. We then end the night past 3:00, which is really late compared to the nights we’ve had. Then again, I’ve started to wake up earlier because I’m sleeping earlier. I’ve been trying to keep myself off of sleep because I’m going to try to work at the doctor’s house and getting 9 hours a day isn’t going to work.

CNF Summer

alias871: Hey
moonchild0078h: hi
alias871: so you gonna be back tonight?
moonchild0078h: no
moonchild0078h: probably not this weekend either
alias871: Why's not?
moonchild0078h: because i don't want to
alias871: ?
moonchild0078h: why should i?
alias871: Oh, just thought you'd like to enjoy the summer with friends back
moonchild0078h: I'd rather say in brooklyn and come out when I need to
moonchild0078h: It's not like we're going to be hanging out every night this summer.
alias871: Oh sorry forgot, I'll leave ya to the fap and cry
moonchild0078h: uhm no
alias871: Denial ain't just a riva
moonchild0078h: more like i have an exam to study for and applications to fill out that i can't afford spending that much time with friends this summer
alias871: Oh, when's your retest?
moonchild0078h: August
moonchild0078h: and I have over 12 applications to do
moonchild0078h: so next time think before you make your preemptive smart ass comments
alias871: Actually seems like something that should take a week and the month before the test, but what do I know

May 14, 2008

May 14, 2008

Hasan randomly calls me around 2:00 and decides that he wants to hang. Spamps jumps along for the ride and it turns out that Miah still isn’t in because of his essay. Spamps spoke to him and he has had one of the greatest lines ever, “I’m losing interest in it.”

I don’t know about you guys, but school isn’t something that really necessitates interest. Granted, that’s why we choose majors and such, but most classes really aren’t interesting. Also, tests and papers have nothing to do with preference. They are simply part of a class, like how taking showers is part of life.

You can’t “lose interest” in taking showers. The same goes for writing a final paper that you didn’t finish while school was in session and you were lucky enough to get an extension into the break. Fucking hell.

Anyway, we go to DnD and chill in the car for a long while. Fun times catching up. Turns out that Spamps is going for an internship for a semester next Spring in LA. I mention how it can be a “Darwin in Prague” Part 2 with “Spamps in LA.” I recommend him writing a blog about it.

Hasan and Spamps seem to have the view that it was stupid and useless. Then again, these men aren’t story tellers like me. I pride myself on story telling and it’s one of the finest parts of conversation, though gossip is sometimes up there.

Spamps says that all stories should simply be remembered and that’s it. I tell him that this allows you to forget a lot and especially all the important details that make a fine story. Whatever, he can lose out on the fine memories he may have if he doesn’t keep a blog going.

We then go to the H Mart, which is finally built next to Starbucks. We walk through it and talk about the possibilities if we want to do a BBQ during the summer. Spamps is then dropped off while Hasan and I go to the Port Washington BBQ place for dinner.

We then pick up Spamps. Miah is still missing. We decide to go to Astoria because we have nothing to do. We hang out there for a while playing Scrabble and end up leaving the earliest ever, 11:20 or so because we decided to go so early and did everything so early.

I go to the new “In n Out” or whatever thing that is new at Middle Neck and Northern. The place is crazy. A 2 liter fountain drink is .99! Every single cup is the same price. They also have my staple of $2 for 2 hot dogs from 7/11. I grab all that and we hang around for a while.

Things die down so Hasan drops us off at 1:00.

The day before, I get back home from NYU. I moved back after my final and I had most of my stuff moved already over the weekend.

I get back and try to contact people on AIM, but it’s a no go. People aren’t really responding and Spamps is sick. I guess I end my look there. Only Spamps, Miah, and Hasan are back and I’m skeptical they want to do stuff, so I let it go and do my usual staying on the computer watching TV and stuff.

The next day, it turns out that Spamps is better. I try to IM Miah throughout the day and he isn’t responding. At night, I try calling him, but he still isn’t around.

I speak to Spamps and Hasan at night. I’ve barely hung out for the past at least month, so I’m cool to do anything from even the simplest of sitting at a DnD and chilling and catching up.

Hasan turns that down for some excuse, so I guess I’ll try to get something going for tomorrow. Miah is finally on and I find out that he actually was home and just ignoring my IM and calls. Spamps did say he had to do an essay.

Miah says that he had “nothing” to say to me, just ignored everything. I responded that it was really douchey and he easily couldn’t given a: “Oh, you’re back eh? That’s cool. Well anyway, I have a paper to write even though I’m home. Sucks right? Well, I guess I won’t be around, but I’ll def be around tomorrow or something. Sorry I’m not around.”

He accepts that he could’ve done this, but I still don’t think he sees what he did. Anyway, so hopefully he’ll be done with his paper tomorrow and I’ll try to get something going.

Speaking about papers, he had all of today and even said he would need some of tomorrow for it. Unless it’s a 20 page thesis or some bullshit, papers don’t take an huge amount of time. I spend almost that much time studying for a final.

You just have to buckle down and not get hit by disruptions. I’ve forced myself to do that and I can do a page in 20-30 minutes. I even did two pages for Aaron’s paper and I’m getting a favor for that. I did do a favor (a page) for Reigler and he says he owns me one. Wonder if that’ll come up.

story

I don’t really have an in into the night until I randomly go upstairs at 10:00ish. Allyse and Brendan are there. I go back to the room to pre-game and Liz walks in and asks Dillon if he’s going to Cross Club. It’s awkward that I’m completely ignored since I’m in the room.

Eventually, I walk outside for a cigarette and a public urination until people come out. Dillon and Alex take the lead and take the metro before us. It’s only Brendan, Allyse, Jen, Charlotte, and I. I guess Jarra not coming out gets rid of some tension.

The girls are pissed that Dillon and Alex go ahead of us and take the metro before us. The two assume that they were taking the last metro and that we’d just be screwed or something. We eventually get there because they didn’t take the last metro. When we get off the metro, Allyse remembers that she owes me $10 for the cab and pays me. It turns out there is a $4.50 cover charge for certain areas at Cross Club, so we avoid those areas. The place is a fuckin’ labyrinth. We get drinks at the bar. I get a shot and a beer. Brendan keeps telling me to work at this random girl that literally sitting right next to us. She offers me a piece of gum, but that’s about it. She’s quiet and she’s probably Czech. For some reason, she’s wearing a visor and is holding a teddy bear…

I see this girl that standing by herself. People are sitting down and talking and stuff, and I randomly walk away to speak to this girl. Her name is Jade and she has a sandwich on her for some reason, but she doesn’t speak English. It’s the first random try to talk to a girl here in Prague. The conversation ends quickly and I walk back to the table with no game from the hunt. People ask me about it, but I tell them that she didn’t speak English.

Suddenly, the night becomes “Darwin, you have to hook up or have sex with a girl tonight.” Uh, yeah, just awkward. We see a couple of girls and Brendan becomes my wingman as we walk towards them standing near the bar. I speak to the two girls and they’re American. The shorter blonde one is from Kansas City and the taller brunette one goes to New Paltz, she’s like a towering 5’8 compared to me. I chat with mostly with Joanna, the brunette. Brendan keeps whispering shit to me and tells me to buy her a beer and I do. It’s only $1, so what the fuck. It’s weird that he’s floating around and keeps tapping me to ask whatever random questions.

I keep finding out random shit about her like her major, about her tattoo, and what the shit. I then buy her and her friend another round of beers. They decide to go to the dance area, which needs pay. The problem is that I have to go through the labyrinth and find the place where you get a stamp and get to go to wherever. I run around and pay for it because Brendan insists that I follow the bitches. I do it and eventually find them.

When I find them and tell them that I had to get a stamp. They’re speaking to this random Czech guy that’s a tattoo artist and her friend wants a tattoo. It’s not good that I don’t remember her name. I had it for a while since I’ve been trying hard to remember names, but I forgot. I dance around a bit with her until the two girls head to the bathroom. I wait for almost ten minutes until I find the group again. This time, Dillon is with them, but Alex is nowhere to be found. Brendan tells me to look for them again and I do so.

I go through the maze and find the area again and see them. I tell Joanna that I’m about to leave and ask for her number. She tells me that her number is messed up, so I give her mine. She actually takes it and calls me, so I have her number. I tell her that I’ll call her sometime. It’s like 3:00 now.

I return back to the table with the group and Brendan starts telling me to scream out random comments. For some reason, people find the comments hilarious. I laugh too because it’s so random. Brendan keeps it up and keeps getting me shouting random things like, “TITS!”

We eventually leave and Jake is with us. He lives in another community, but he’s still coming back to our dorm and I tell him that he can sleep in Gianfranco’s bed since he’s gone for the weekend.

The tram eventually comes and it’s a quite a long ride. We eventually get off at an area where it still takes at least 20 minutes to walk back. On the way, Brendan gets a sausage and bun for himself, Allyse, and me. It is literally ten times better than a New York hot dog. After I’m done with 2/3s of it, I see Charlotte waiting for us ahead holding her arms by her waist like Superman. It looks ridiculous so I replicate her. During that, I drop my sausage and I’m left with only the bun. I’m such a fuckin’ idiot and get some deserving ridicule.

The walking separates people and Brendan, Jen, and I become a group. Brendan keeps talking about the lessons that I learned tonight about the girls. I try to play it off because it’s just random conversation and stuff, but he makes it a big deal. I shrug and awkwardly try shrug off his insistence, but he keeps asking.

Eventually, we get back and I go my room. Brendan and Dillon randomly take the elevator downstairs. Allyse comes in with Jake asks where they are. She explains the situation that she wants to hook up with Jake (which is really awkward since he’s right there), Brendan wants to hook up with Jen, and Dillon wants to hook up with Charlotte. I guess it’s a bit weird that I’m the odd man out.

Eventually, everyone comes in the room and chills. Charlotte says that she’s coming to make some tea and if people want some. Jake asks for some green tea. Charlotte says that it’s black, but that she might able to steal from green.

Allyse heavily reprimands her for it because of all the stealing that’s been going on. I also accept some black tea. When Dillon and Charlotte come back with tea, Allyse, Jake, Brendan, and Jen are off to their shit… You know how it’s done.

Brendan eventually comes back and goes to sleep on Gianfranco’s bed. It’s like 6:00 at this point and Dillon hasn’t returned to the room by the time I sleep.

May 5, 2008

On Saturday, it was CNF’s birthday so I went into Brooklyn to meet up with him and Stefan to go to a BBQ joint called Smoke Joint. We walk there and meet Josh there. I get a beef sandwich. I also get beans, but there’s so much meat that I wouldn’t call it a bean dish.

Michael calls and bitches about how CNF should’ve waited so he could join in on the meal. Michael’s phone died, that’s his fault. He missed the dinner, that’s too bad. Who the fuck cares anyway? Does he really think it’s that cool to sit and eat with Josh, Stefan, CNF and I?

I tell CNF to ask if he wants something brought back. If he feels he’s missing our company, we’re returning to the apartment. If he’s missing the food, we can bring it back. He refuses the food, what an idiot.

To make him feel better and to pull a silly joke, we go to get him a cheesecake and candles even though it’s CNF’s b-day. When we get back, he then sees that Stefan hasn’t brought back enough leftovers for Michael and bitches about it even though it’s 2/5 of his ribs and almost all his Mac n’ cheese. So this is after he said he didn’t want anything brought back… Yeah…

Josh decides to go back because he’s real tired. Stefan gets a handle of Georgi for me because what’s better than drinking. No one takes part because they’re weirdos. Michael later walks out to and sees the bottle. Multiple times he mentions how classless he thinks it is. Fuck him, it’s cheap, it gets ya drunk. Why doesn’t he buy me a “nice” bottle of something.

He then asks for beer since there’s liquor there. CNF says he was thinking about going to get some, but Michael then says it’s fine. Right… Jonah later joins us after coming back from a $125+ meal at a new swaggy restaurant called Momofuku Ko. It’s almost impossible to get the reservations through their site though he was lucky and went with his brother.

I get drunk while we’re sitting around watching TV. Jonah and I end up heading back around 1:00 or something and I pass out.

Can’t wait for the semester to end already.

This stuff is always fun.
