Aaron texts me that him and CNF are coming back next weekend for their grandparents. We’re going to do a classy lunch at Jean Georges or Eleven Madison Park. He asks about a dress code. I say that it’s a bit serious. Not suit and tie, but bizz cas. He asks if “tigger” is allowed. I don’t get the joke until I finally get reminded of the time that we went out for Scott’s birthday in the city. Jeremiah was wearing an orange Tigger shirt. Yes, the character from Winnie the Pooh.
Atron shows me a picture that is classic. The white shorts are enough to get me smiling. Rolled up socks. It doesn’t stop. It’s also weird with him, CNF, and Bolanos in the background dressed up.
Sorry, I don’t mean to be a hater. I hope it’s just a harmless laugh I’m trying to have. And hey, I’ve never seen that shirt again. Good job!
Before going out, I put my computer in front of my exercise bike. I go on for 1 hour even though it’s hard to get your heartbeat in the “zone” doing that. Running is better, but it’s cooold. We make dinner plans to go to Little Pepper in Flushing. Read my review on dweez.yelp.com.
After that, it’s before 8:00 and we decide to go to Astoria. It’s a night to get drunk, so I buy a bottle of whiskey. Miah has some. Hasan has to drive. I have half Diet Dr Pepper and half whiskey while we’re at the hookah bar. Boy is that a stiff drink. I get a good buzz going while sketchy drinking at that place. The hookah is a great combo with that drunk buzz I got going.
At 10-11:00, we move onto Beer Garden. I immediately run into a order shots of Becherovka. If you’ve never had this Czech liquor, get some immediately. It’s cinnamon and gingerbread or a “Christmas” shot. Derrricious.
Then onto a Czech pilsner, Staropramen. Hasan and I go out for a cigarette and a girl goes out asking for a night. For some reason, I get the random compliment that I look like a “little model.” I’ll take that as a compliment. What am I going to do that I’m short other than look amazing?
I end up getting her cute friends Rachel and Stefanie. We hang out for a bit. I end up playing the “what’s different between these two images” game, which is annoying because I suck at it. I pick up a number, but they’re from Jersey drinking away that two of them broke up with their b/fs. They end up leaving. We leave soon after. They get cart, but I avoid because I’m on a diet. There’s a dumb bet where Hasan thinks there are zero restaurants in the city with three Michelin stars. He loses $30. Nice job.

February!!
January 30, 2010
Jenn’s back from Seoul, though she’s back at school. I tell her that she has a lot of stuff to fill me in on and I tease her with some of the shit that’s been going on here. Come to think of it, there has been quite a few fun stories.
Haven’t really been doing much these days. Chilling with the dudes here and there. Corinne was in the city the past two days so we hung in the city. Tonight is Kenny’s b-day, so I guess we’ll see what happens.
I’m really disappointed that I haven’t hit up restaurant week yet. However, they don’t do Saturdays, which messed things up because I made ressies earlier in the week and didn’t realize. Tomorrow is a meh day because restaurants have to go out of their way to participate on Sundays. Also, it’s the day before so I can’t reservations. Hopefully something will work out soon.

Work has been the usual. It’s pretty awesome that I’ve gotten tutoring duties for my boss’ son here and there. It pays $25 off the books, which is ridic. I only do a few hours a week though.
I haven’t been really getting good sleep recently, only 5 hours for the past few nights. This is coming from someone who tries to be responsible.
The diet is going well. My new thing is soup. It barely has fat. It has protein in the stock, the meat, and beans. It fills you up through the liquid and vegetables. The only issue is the pasta I put in, but that isn’t bad since it’s only a fraction of what you’d eat from any straight pasta dish. The soup itself doesn’t actually have a fair amount of pasta if you think of it that way.
For the rest of the week, I’m excited for hitting up Restaurant Week. We’ll see how that goes. Also, Bolanos is visiting for the J Dilla tribute in Brooklyn with Tim and Sam, so that sounds like a cool weekend.
I’m watching loads of TV as usual. Nothing exceptional is on though.
I’ve been listening to Howard Stern/YouTubing (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 gameplays for some reason though. Dunno why I’m intrigued, but it’s way too much investment to get into that)/Hulu. It’s been so long since I’ve listened to music. I tried today.
The Animal Collective is interesting, but I got tired of it quickly. Maybe it needs more listens. The xx album is pretty good. Despite loving “big” sounds like baroque pop, I do enjoy how the band utilizes minimalism. I tried The Revolution by Miranda Lambert. The critics cream over it. I’m not really sure why though. I can listen to it because it’s poppy country music. Well, at least not to the point of Taylor Swift at least, even though I do enjoy my Taylor.
I need to find new stuff to listen to.

Jenn apparently was home for the weekend, but we haven’t really spoken and we didn’t get to catch up.
Erdem, Miah, and I have to gone to Bohemian Beer Garden twice this weekend. Last night, a fucking guy was laying on the table and his friends were there. Then he leans over and starts vomiting on the ground. Miah and I are sitting at a corner table. I get a wiff and fuck this man. I feel a bit of gagging and I split the fuck out of there.

At night, Hasan and I drive in to meet Stefan for dinner at One if by Night, Two if by Sea. Best meal I’ve ever had. It was just amazing. Read it on my Yelp bitches.
Evan backs out on the night like expected. The three of us go to the Continental for shots. Then we go to Village Pourhouse where Stefan works some game. He looks at this girl’s bag and sorta asks her about it, but she’s like wtf. He also asks the bartender about arm crossing and she’s like wtf. Hasan and I are looking away and suddenly he is chatting up this girl.
He stays there doing that while Hasan and I leave for the Irish pub on St. Marks. We end up leaving by 2:00 and Stefan is still getting his business down.

Candace texted me early on that she’s going to Stout tonight. Hasan comes over and we decide to go. I pregame a bunch and we meet Avi at the GN station. We go in and head immediately to Stout, which is so close to Penn. There’s singing, there’s chain smoking, and whatever business.
Hasan wants to take the 1:19, but Avi brings us along to Spin, a ping pong bar/lounge. Hasan and I play two games for monies. We meet his friend Simon who drives us around. We eventually go downtown for a bite. Crif Dogs and Pommes Frites have really long lines. We’re stuck with shitting fuckin falafel at Mamoun’s instead. Blegh.
Days later, Hasan finds a Spin ping pong ball in his car and asks when we went to play ping pong. I start laughing really hard. Apparently, he barely remembers that part of the night. He remembers leaving Stout and going to Mamoun’s, but apparently has barely any recollection of gambling on ping pong with me.

Jenn is back for a long weekend. Kenny and I meet her for dinner in town. Good times catching up the issues back home and the trip over abroad.
