Mid July

July 13, 2010
This man is a "mat-cheen" (an obscure reference to a Little Lupe appearance on the Howard Stern show). Down to 122.5, definition is coming in. Eating "no" fat. Barely any carbs. Avoiding red meat. Cutting calories everywhere. Shit's paying off. Get some discipline people.
Yesterday was quite the productive day. Got up before 8, worked, got home, didn't really slack, took a long nap because I couldn't sleep the night before, worked out, cleaned the car because my brother keeps the car fucking disgusting, had some chicken breast (cooked with no oil), steamed vegetables, and kimchi, and then started LSAT studying.
Right when I sat down with dinner, I was asked if I wanted to go to BHT to watch the Home Run Derby. However, I wouldn't have studied, I would've fattened up on beer, so meh, I did't go.
Can't wait for more Friday Night Lights, downloaded third season and so I should be back on that.
Louie, fantastic show. One of my favorite comedies to come out recently. It mixes his stand up with sitcom and while I dislike most stand up comedians, I can actually get Louis CK.
If you haven't seen Double Rainbow, it's pretty fucking funny. Better yet, Georgia State bodypaint guy is awesome.

July 15, 2010
I drive with Bolanos into the city to have dinner with Corinne and her friend at Kenka. It's the second time for the week going, but I still enjoy it and it's her still favorite place anyway. Along with dinner, between the four of us, we also are able to polish off 9 of their 32 oz beers for $5. It's New York City and that's a deal, buddy.
We end up meeting CNF, Evan, Arielle, and a friend. We stop by the Continental for a few 5 shots for $10. We Corinne and Marti have to get back. The rest of us go to Doc Holidays for a bit. Then we stop by Beauty Bar and Artichoke. I drive back

July 16, 2010
I pick up Atron and we get some KFC. You can actually order healthy there with their grilled chicken. We go back to my place and pregame with some rum. Bolanos comes, we pick up Miah from work, we pick up some Joose and take the 920 train. We meet some peeps and Miah and I go to split a Baoguette. It's already 10-11:00ish and dinner at 7 has left me hungry. I then meet Corinne and a few more friends. We meet CNF, Stefan, and Atron and go to a karaoke room in Koreatown. Not the Stout style, we rent out the room.
We then have some late night snackage as a restaurant. Kimchi bibimbap with loads of side dishes with some soju. Yeesh, that shit is rough.
We split up and we're at the Penn station area already. We have nothing to do so we find an empty bar, have a beer, 3:19, etc. etc.

July 17, 2010
It's Siren day. However, it's exhausting to be there all day. Matt drives in with Toph, Bolanos, Atron, and I. We go to Totonno's first and catch the end of Earl Greyhound. We then make some Ted Leo. Brown bagging some Negra Modelo. After that, we have Matt and Kim. Another beer there, though this time Atron and I walk by an officer. He points at the sidewalk where other partially drunken beers are. We comply and at least I finished most of it anyway. Stupid stupid law, though at least the cops are doing it right. Couldn't imagine them writing hundreds of tickets out.
Matt and Kim are funny, especially with Matt going into Ignition, though I wish they did a cover. Fun show and we head back. A serious shower is needed and some dinner. Then my brother has some people over to play beer pong. Bolanos heads over with Ben. I lose some though end the last game in serious good fashioned win.

More July

July 7, 2010
It's the semifinals for the World Cup today. Bolanos and I get breakfast from Best Bagels. Then we make some errands and start the pregame for the city. We take the 1:20 train in for the 2:30 game. We're supposed to go to Zum Schneider, the German beer garden, but it's almost "closed." The metal gate things used when a store is closed are half closed because the place is so full.
We walk and try to find anything we can. We find a bar that's half full, which is still a decent amount for early afternoon. Walking in, the bouncer asks me multiple times to not blow the vuvuzela that I have on me or else I will get kicked out. We stay there and watch the first half. By the way, it's 100 degrees out today. Shit is way too hot. I'm even drenched in sweat while standing in the air conditioned bar.
During half time, we head to Nevada Smiths, which is superpacked and loaded with Spain fans. Poor Germany. I'm rocking my white shirt and white vuvuzela for the Deustchland. Spain scores a goal and I get some beer rained down on me for it. Spain ends up winning 1-0 and we immediately walk out.
It's past 4:00 and I'm starved after just breakfast and the drinks. We decide on Caracas. It's just a slopping mess of pouring as much sauce as I can all over the arepas and scarffing them down like an animal. It's quite a disgusting sight. We then take the train back because Bolanos wants to catch his water polo game.
I get home and chat with Ela about the German loss, though at least we'll beat Uruguay for the third place match. Shootin' some shit, we play "Guess the song" with some humming. Man, reminds me of loads of music that I used to listen to. Ok Go, The Vines, Jet, RHCP (By the Way). Hey, I didn't say it was the best music, but that's what I was into in Middle/High School.
She also gets me to start Season 2 of Gilmore Girls because that's partly where she learned her English, in addition to school. I've watched enough of these girly ass shows in my life. I shoud be able to tell if this is worth it.
Also, I've gone through a full season of Friday Night Lights. Pretty good show. I got hooked quickly. For a drama, it paces quite well. Some of the characters are compelling. And the most intriguing part is its portrayal of "middle" America. It really got me thinking about how it was be like if I grew up with that kind of lifestyle. Things are laidback. A small community. The importance of High School football and how so much revolves around that. Then again, I'm not crazy. I'm a city boy. However, I still will always regret not going to a Midwest sports team college. That would been so fun.

July 9, 2010
After a slight pregame, I take a walk to the station for the 850 train. Stefan is supposed to meet up with us, but I don't know what happens to him. Bolanos and I go to Cheap Shots where we get disappointed by the fact they're out of the best beer, Patriot Ale. If you mix water and beer, you'd have the Patriot.
Atron and Murray come through from their earlier plans or whatnot. We meet up with Erin from the Montreal trip and other school friends. While we're standing around Atron says he'd give me $1 if I ask an open shirt homeless black man the time. It's easy money. I walk over and ask what time it is. He starts spitting like crazy at me and shouting and then starts coming towards me. I immediately turn around and walk away as fast as possible. Even people on the street have to try to stop him as he walked towards me, spitting and shouting. That's the hardest $1 I've ever had to make.
We decide to take the 1:19 back because I'm too old for this shit these days. We get to Penn early and spend the next 20 minutes playing Johnny Lodden Says. Example: Chris and David don't think James has a clue about measurements. They ask James to think of how many feet are in a mile and lock it down in his head. Chris and David then start naming numbers higher and higher until one stops. Stopping at a number means you have that number and numbers under it. The other person has all numbers above. Obviously this game is to be played with wagers.
You can play this game with: Sports trivia, celebrity ages, even something as stupid as the current time. The best part of the game is that "facts" do not matter. All that matters is if you can guess what the non-betting party thinks. You really need to get into their head and extract an answer in from their shoes. Fun fun fun times.
After that, we catch jump onto the 119, which is usually a lame train without fights like the 319. By the way, it's a bit sad that the nights come down to highlights from the train ride. Anyway, we sit across from three girls. One of them has a cup of beer. One is sitting against the window and looking off. Another one is sitting at the isle and a chubby dude walks over, gets on a knee, and starts chatting her up. I could tell they know each other, but I think he's just a friend that's drunk, horny, and lusting.
Atron restart our game where we speak in Spanish. It's fun because I love the language and I really hate losing it after taking it for three semesters in college. The girls stop us and tell us that they know Spanish. We don't care, we keep making fun of the chubby kid. I call him "THE Romeo." About his fire eyes as he starts deeply into the girl's eyes. All this business, it's really fun.
He later leaves and it surprises me that she says they aren't anything official, but they were something. Really? That chubby kid? The girl near the isle is smokin' and has a fuckin' rack that bulldozer can't even pick up. I called out and could tell that she was Persian. The other girl near the window is Italian and quite the looker herself. Dammit, all night nothing. Then the highlight of the night (and even girl spotting) has to come down to the LIRR. Lammmeee. We introduce ourselves, get into a BS talk, exchange names, what are you doing with life, age, etc.
Afterwards, Bolanos and I go to White Castle. 1 BBQ slider, 1 burger, split a sweet potato fries. Not the best, but certainly better than when I used to shove down up to 7 burgers and an order of onion rings in a drunkin stupor. Keep the food clean. Take the liquor easy. This body is a machine.
Either way, update on that, I'm down even more weight. In the mornings, without food in me and all my water weight is gone (so not my "natural" weight), I'm at 123.5. And about saying if I should cut, depends on the goal. I don't have a gym membership nor the time, so I won't be completely bulking, proteining, etc. Instead, I want to cut that body fat and work on the abs, in addition to other areas. Abs are shitty muscles. You need to be unnaturally low in body fat to any get definition from them. Anyway, that's my update/rant.
PS: Flabbymaster Flex Atron owes me a six pack for losing our contest.

July 12, 2010
I'm listening to the Siren bands.
To see:
Wye Oak- The band I'm looking forward to the most. Dreamy folk is how I would describe them, if that helps.
Surfer Blood- Fun indie rock with a hint of "surfer." They draw a bit of that 50s surfer rock feel.
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart- Despite the silly name, not bad indie rock, but nothing I'd go out of my way to see.
Matt and Kim- I like last year's album more other stuff that I've heard of them. And also, they released one of my favorite songs of last year, unfortunately I feel the rest of their music doesn't hold up to that.
The Night Marchers- Not too "heavy," but still a lot more action than a lot of the other indie pop bands playing.
Ted Leo- Didn't really like them in the past, but I enjoyed the most recent album.
harlem- Catchy indie pop.
Earl Greyhound- I hope they stick to their more rock stuff because a lot of the last album focuses on more the pop side of the band and their female vocalist. SOS is going to be sick though, along with Oye Vaya.
Screaming Females- A punkish band from New Brunswick. Looking forward to them.

Not see:
Holy Fuck- Instrumental electronic isn't really much cup of tea.
Cymbal Eat Guitars- More indie rock, didn't hear much that I found interesting.
Ponytail- Jamming, it's a lot of noise.
Apache Beat- Fail.

July Starts

July 1, 2010
Bolanos and I make plans to go into the city for dinner. We switch from Meatball Shop (a restaurant that fucking serves just meatballs?!) to Keste & Vino. Keste is small as hell and loaded with a 45 minute wait. Across the street is John's of Bleecker Street, which also has a long wait. I didn't know that they were so close to each other and they're two of New York's best pizza pies. You also have Bleecker Street Pizza there, one of New York's best slices. Jeez, gotta love the Apple.
We meet Stefan who tells us this ridiculous story about him running into people on the street and running into a party and having drinks with strangers. The kid is a wild man. I love my pizza, but no way we're waiting around. We instead go to the Baoguette in the West Village. Man, I don't know what restaurant I've frequented more and I've even been to three of their four restaurants in the chain. This one is a bit different from the "regular" one. The menu is a bit different and it's more sit down friendly. Review will have to be written.
After dinner, it's almost 10ish and Stefan has to get home because he has work tomorrow. It's another move of monotony, but can’t knock Baoguette and International Bar. Two of my quick, simple favorites. Evan says he’s showing up and with people. I expect it to be the his NYU friends, but it turns out to be TA and Jared. Two people we rarely get to see, what a surprise. After a while and a few drink deals (whiskey shots and Genesee), Bolanos and I move out. The other three go back.
Bolanos and I go to Kenka to meet some people from online that I’ve been hanging out with. We grab some beers and the place is awesome because shit is balls cheap and it’s a great place to grab a bite and chill out. After that, we go look for somewhere else. Next to Crif Dog and Hop Devil is this place that’s playing loud music. It’s a late on a Thursday night, so places won’t be popping anyway. Around 10 of us plop ourselves down there. The bartender, who looks like Jonathan Ross, but 60 lbs. heavier, blonde, and a bit more creepy/bar ownerish, walks over and tries grabbing the girls to dance on the table. They resist, but he knows how to push it and he gets two of the girls on the bar to dance on top of the bar. Crazy shit.
He gets into the classy move of grabbing the bar and thrusting upwards towards the girls. That’s a class man. He’s a smart owner. He blasts the music, asks what the girls want on and gives them the iPod, and even gives people upside down shots on the bar. Free liquor? Obvs, I’m down for that. He poured a few shots of liquor for having all of us stay, ordering drinks, and even more. The front of the place is all glass and people start staring from outside from the spectacle that is this place, The Belgian Room. People dancing near the front and people dancing at the bar with really hella loud music. On a late late Thursday night, it’s moths to a flame. He gets more and more people to come in, even other girls get on the bar and dance their asses off.
It’s a hella fun night that’s so spontaneous, though one of the girls with our group gets her wallet stolen because of the influx of people coming in. I feel so freaking bad. It literally happened to me blocks away. Worse for her, she came all the way to visit NYC from DC, hit traffic all the way, came on a budget, and now all shit’s gone while away from home. Ugh, not a good feeling. Either way, it’s 4ish by now so Bolanos and I depart.

July 2, 2010
After a good snooze, I get a day going. I work out a load, biceps, abs, chest. I was thinking about going to Pacha tonight, but I give up on that and throw a party at my place instead of mom and grandma are gone for the weekend. Brother is having people over too. I pick up Aaron and we go to the beer distributor. I grab a Four Loko because it’s the new shit. It’s 12% alcohol and 23.5 fl oz. of it. With the math, that’s around a six pack of 4% beer. Aaron and I are talking about it when we pay. The guy in the front looks like he owns a Harley. He doesn’t believe that it’s a six pack of beer. He tries doing the math for it. He pulls out his hand and with each finger goes “Two, four, six, eight, tan, twelve,” until he reaches his second hand. I jump into the car and tell Atron, “Now that is a ruh-tard.” We get back to my place and I’ve already sent mass texts so people start coming over.
The Four Loko does its job and gets be buzzed quickly. It really is an efficient one. Bolanos and I start off beer pong 0-2. Damn. However, we pick it up and roll into a 4 game streak. That’s how we roll. Stupid me at one point punches the wall out of excitement over the game. The game isn’t great for drinking, but it just amplifies emotions when you have the competitive “eye of the tiger” boiling inside of you. There’s loads of people that I invited. There’s people that my brother invited. There’s music. There’s drinks. There’s company. Hell ya, definitely the best party thrown here and we also haven’t had a house party in a while.

July 3, 2010
At night, I use the house for one more night. A few people head over and we play “Ask Wolfe game.” We ask Scott a question like “How old do you think Miley Cyrus is?” Bolanos and I keep saying higher and higher numbers until one of us wants to stop and that person takes that number and lower. We bet crazy ass things. For the night though, I end up down a few bets on Bolanos. Not bad though considering each bet is only $2 a pop.

June

June 1, 2010

I drove to work and was switching channels. Hot 97 came on and they're doing a segment named, "Things Black People Don't Care About." I immediately knew this would be gold. Dennis Hopper dying? They don't care two shits. Gary Coleman? Yo yo, that's a tragedy.
Celine Dion being pregnant? An ignorant bitch says, "Ain't she too old for dat shit?" Another dude says, "She just made that Titanic." He is quickly told that she only sang the song for it.
Kevin Eubanks news? Even though he's black, black people do not watch Leno.

At night, I drive into the city. We were maybe supposed to meet up with Stefan and Evan, but they bitch out. We get a few drinks at The Library, a dive. Then we go to the Lower East Side and try out a bunch of places. Some places are a bit crowded and poppin, but most places are dead because it’s a Tuesday night.

After that dies, we decide to call it an early night after some Artichoke. We go to Beauty Bar for a pee break, but we notice that both bathrooms had two people in them beforehand. Like a guy and girl walk out. I’m not sure what they were doing in there… After that, we drive back. No traffic, shit’s fast.

June 11, 2010
Plans today to go to Di Fara. I pick up Jonah and Bolanos and we're off at 11:40ish. It takes no time on the highway, but it's all local afterwards. The drive literally takes almost an hour. There's no line to order our square pie. I order a slice, which I get pretty quickly. Wow, best New York style slice I've had.
The square pie with double baking does a long time and we wait well over an hour. We finally get the pie, but they burn a pie and the entire place is smoked up and unbearable. People are being tear gased in there basically. We eat the pizza at the car and head back. We hit traffic on the Belt Pkwy. It takes forever to get back and I get home at 4:00. Wow... Almost a 5 hour "trip." Shit, this has gotta get planned better.
At night, Atron comes over and we get ready for the city. We head in early-ish and reach McFaddens for a graduation party that Annie is throwing. Murray shows up there too. I partake in the open bar even though I wasn't planning to drink much. Whatever, gettin' shitface brudda. I take the 1:19 back. It's fun to end the night relatively early, especially when the open bar closes at 12:00 anyway.

June 18, 2010

CNF is back for the weekend and we decide go to the city. I meet Bolanos, CNF, Atron, and Lauren on the train. We first go to International to have a few drinks. We meet up with Stefan and we split up. Stefan, Bolanos, and I stay at International while the other three go to Angel's Share.
We finally get a spot at Death and Co., but we get there a bit late and hang out with the guy outside, Trace. He has get rid of Austrain "cock suckers" from our spot and finds a liking for our special little Stefan. We finally get in and have a few drinks.

June 24, 2010

I drive into the city with Bolanos. We check out Cheap Shots that was closed down for letting underage people in. They have a police car sitting right in front and the bouncer now scans IDs. It’s pretty empty. There’s one bartender that’s a bit wild. She’s friendly or a bit drunk or something. Obviously we rock some Patriot Ale. Bolanos and I can’t help noticing this man that could only he defined as being a “beast.” Calling him fat would be an offense to fat people.. He’s ugly. He’s old. Just “beast.”

The other bartender is apparently British, but lost her accent a lot. She’s a cold motherfucker though and will have nothing about conversation. Our “beast” man is drunk as crazy and starts peeing on the bar. I feel so bad for the Mexican watching it as he is the one that works there and has the clean it.

Highlight of the night? One of the bartender slips into conversation that he’s the owner. WHA?! We thought he was just some loser that was getting to shitfaced at a shitty dive bar. Instead, he OWNS the place?! Wow… The bartender jokes around that he’s great for tips because he’s slobs around and it really scares of patrons.

Then, we stop at Sunny and Annie’s, a deli. Not a regular deli though. I’ll write my review on Yelp soon.

June 26, 2010

I run over to the liquor store near H Mart for some Jack Daniels. Shit’s not cheap, .750L for $27 with tax. Later in the night, Bolanos picks me up and it’s 11:00 and we drive out to Commack for a party thrown by Jill. Shit’s fucking far dammit. I guess we’re jaded for living only 30 minutes from the city, but most people out in the country have to drive pretty far to meet up with people.

Bolanos and I arrive to the party and people are there by now. We say Hi and then it’s time for shots. Apparently, everyone else brought Jack Daniels as well so there was little variety. Within 10 minutes, our boy is three shots deep and a Heiney. Lee’s a Jersey Boy and he reps it like a Jersey boy. More drinks, more chatting. Saying Hi to people that arrive and stuff.

At one point, I get pretty drunk and it’s meh. However, I regroup, chill, and I’m back in action. However, we do have some other boys that push it a bit far and they’re passed the fuck out. One’s outside on the straw couch. Another’s inside in the living room couch.

At one point, we make a run to 7/11. We pick up some 18 racks and some ping pong balls for beer pong. We play and I sink one cup early. However, the drunksky gets me and I miss all cups from there on. Bolanos has to hold up the team, while it’s very grim and looks like we’re going to lose. However, the other two guys are stuck on our last cup. We get to one cup and catch up. I’ve been missing like a crazy person and my shots are really off. However, on the last cup, I focus in. The zone is set. My eyes and right arm are one. I take the shot. I didn’t even believe that it was so perfect. It just drops in. Then, badda bing, Darwin with the clutch. Sink that single cup in like a motherfucker. Done-zo, Dweez finished that shit up clean. Adios, bitches. However, I don’t try to rep myself too hard because “clutch” is meh when I really only made 2 of the 10 cups.

Then, we make moves into the water. There’s a hot tub and pool. I’m reluctant at first to jump in, but fuck it. Darwin works out for his body, why don’t we take off our shirts? Obvs, we jump ino the water.

One boy is a drunk crazy guy and just gets butt naked. Good thing I didn’t witness this at all, but Bolanos got a full look and was not cool with seeing that business. I guess I do the miss the water a bit since it’s been fucking forever since I’ve been in a pool, hot tub, or the beach. Granted, I avoid these things.

There’s some nakedness, some bikininess, some girls makin out, etc. etc. Shortly after, shooting more shit, we end up leaving by 4:00ish. Basically everyone else ends up staying over for the night, which is probably a good idea since people are drunk and need a ride to the train station. Also, the train itself takes over an hour back to the city. When I get back home, I’m just about to walk into the house when I see Spamps literally pull up in front of my house. Wtf? Apparently, he was working until 5AM?! Seriously?

I jump in the car, say Hi, we randomly take a swig of Jack Daniels that is in my hand and we depart. How random. What a night.

Update: I have a cruise coming up at the end of August for 5 days from New York and Canada with stops. Going with mom and grandma.

Corinne’s supposed to visit soon, dunno when.

And hey, Ela from Germany is coming for her au pair gig. She’s staying for a year and going to be with a family in Connecticut, an hour from NYC. She’d bitch at me if I didn’t say she was awesome. So there we go. Another plus, I never go rock shows anymore. Ela will definitely be down, so yeah.

May, Summer Starts

May 12, 2010

It’s the day for graduation. It’s rainy as shit and cold as fuck. It’s the expected boringness just sitting there in my gap and gown, but in the rain and cold. Alec Baldwin had his little speech and such since he’s alumn from Tisch for acting. The Tisch people sing the national anthem and do a fucking funny ass job. It’s yucked up to a point of ridiculousness with 6-7 of them doing something like it was from Glee.

After the ceremony, I leave at 12:30 for Binghamton. I stop on the way at this “Hot Dog” place in Pennsylvania. Hole in the wall with a few benches. Fast service. Simple sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, fries, onion rings, etc. My kind of place. Huge delicious grilled chicken sandwich and we drive on.

I get to Binghamton and go over to Bolanos’. After a quick dinner and whiskey run, we pick up Ben because he’s here to hang out before their parents come up for graduation. We sit around and wait to get the night rolling. Ben and I pregame for a while. He comes up with a fine comment and turns to me, “WOW, this is seriously good! Good one, Darwin!”(talking about his drink). I poured him whiskey and Coke. Apparently that is some kind of mindblowing concoction that I had just created out of nowhere…

Bolanos didn’t drink so we drive over to meet his friends. It’s two of them, Stan and Misha, and we play some pong. They beat Ben and Bola, and then Bola and I. We then go downtown for a little bit. We step in the Rat for a bit, and then over to Tom and Marty’s. The night ends and we go back. We then order Escape, which is their gourmet sandwich place. Fantastic place for only $6, you get a great great panini. That’s purchasing power in Binghamton for you.

May 13, 2010

I try sleeping on a chair and it does not work out at all. I sleep in while the others go to the diner at 11-12:00ish. I stay in to sleep and sleep. People are up and running around ready to party, but I didn’t sleep at night. By 1:00ish, people are pregaming and ready to move out. I get up, shower, and try catching up with them because they left about 10 minutes before. I grab half of a sandwich that I have left over. Small portions these days, I always have half sandwiches or leftovers sitting around.

I run out, half a sandwich, some water, and I’m ready for the bar crawl. People are graduating soon, so people wake up in the morning and are reading to drink all afternoon and “tour” through all the bars in town.

I walk from the house and go to the first stop, the Belmar. I’m supposed to meet people from the house there, but I run into Claudia, from the Montreal trip. She hustles me past the Belmar to catch up with Atron and the rest of the frat. I also get to say Hi to Murray, Eric Fidel, Brian, Annie, and Erin. Wow, lots of faces to see, yet I’m the only one that’s sober. These people have been drinking already. I get to the first bar and need to catch up. I’m about 6-7 drinks deep really quickly. We walk to the next bar and I’m starting to feel it. It’s a gay bar and Atron and I are drunk as shit so we class it up with some Jameson on the rocks. Shit is too cheap to not drink like a champ.

After running around town more and going to more bars, I realize now that I’m pretty fucking drunk. Well not like party pooper throw up drunk that I’m useless. However, I should slow down and not get too in trouble. Atron has to go because he has a paper to write.

I run into Bolanos and others who are outside at the “street fair.” For some reason, Bolanos wants to horse around and throws me over his shoulders to spin me around. It’s really dizzying and not really fun while I’m drunk. I get put down and almost fall. Then, he goes again. This time, I’m dizzy from the two spins and the drunkenness does not help at all. He tries to get me on my feet, but the damage is done. I can’t get my balance and boom. I fall. Probably the drunkenness stops my reflexes from kicking in. Usually from a fall, you scrap up your palms and it’s a battle scar, but you’re fine. I instead fall like I was knocked out cold. Only face contact. My chin is ripped up all over and my two front teeth are chipped. Great.

Bolanos helps me out to check it out at a bathroom and clean up. It’s fucking bad. I look like a vampire on one tooth and they’re reasonable chipped 50%. We walk back, he helps me grab some food from Wendy’s, and I just chill out online telling my friend Ela about how fucked up it is.

I call my mom a bunch a times and she says the best that could be done is an appointment for Saturday instead of tomorrow. I just go to sleep and not think about this shit.

May 14, 2010

I wake up and Bolanos’ parents are coming. I want to get home because there’s no point in staying. I was going to stay more, but I need to go to that appointment tomorrow. Also, I don’t need to the his parents because no one wants to explain that BS. I drive home and get caught in a bit of traffic. I’m home by 4:30ish. I end up doing nothing for the day because I’m still fucking annoying about all this shit. Wallet lost. Fuck it. But this haircut and now the teeth and chin, I look like the worst retard ever. Ugh.

I wake up and I’m supposed to call the dentist. I find out that the dentist ends at 11:30, while my mom told me that I was supposed to go in at 12:00. Fuck this. I don’t have an actual appointment and have to make one for Tuesday. I’m not sure how immediate it is. My dentist doesn’t make it seem like so. I try to make an emergency appointment and even though I don’t get one through, they don’t seem to make it urgent, despite online, it did seem like an urgent issue.

From what I read, I didn’t reach so far that they will have to pluck the tooth out. However, it is a bit painful to eat and when I drink something cold.

Well anyway, I do end up getting an appointment at another dentist. After a wait, an hour in and out, I’m good. My teeth still the same, but it looks fine. It’s not perfect perfect color, but the caps aren’t noticeable unless you look in light and try to look for it.

Afterwards, I treat my grandmother for dinner because we’re in Flushing already. We go to Canton Gourmet, which I’ve been wanting to go to. I still need to write my review for Yelp, but their Crispy Garlic Chicken is so fucking good.

Afterwards, I get home to get some working out done. I get online and speak to Erdem for a bit. I try to make plans and talk to him online for 30 minutes. He plays around with me about being picky. I don’t want to go here. I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to go to Astoria. I don’t want to go to the city. Any other ideas other than beer garden or Fat Cat? Any ideas other than going to the city? What kind of mystical places are there in… Port Washington or whatever town near us.

He finally backs out at 10:00 because it’s “late.” I’m fucking pissed for a bit and then give up. I don’t need this shit anymore. If he doesn’t want to go out, sure, do whatever you want. However, don’t antognize me about how I’m shitty at making plans. Then he becomes all picky because nothing is “good enough” for him because he’s apparently done everything his “old days.” Then after me searching online and talking to him on AIM and calling people for 30 minutes, he does the usual thing and backs out for whatever bullshit. Like I didn’t see it coming, I don’t need to waste time on this BS no more. Blegh.

I wake up late despite setting an alarm. I wake up and catch up with Ela for a bit. Just shooting the shit and stuff. It’s a Sunday though, who cares. I go to Starbucks because it’s the last day of half price fraps. Yummyyy. Sucks that it’s the last day, but I still get my Venti Mocha Light Frap, Affogato. Afterwards, I go to H Mart, which is having their festival thing. I walk around and try out their samples. I walk into the store to check it out, then I realize that I’m in cooking mood. I spend a shit load of time just roaming around. Like literally almost two hours. I confirm with mom that I’m making dinner tonight and lets go.

I gather the ingredients for soba. I want to do a Momofuku style pork bun, but they do not have steam bread. They only have buns, how silly. I also get the ingredients for Korean seafood pancake. Savory pancakes, that’s my shit.

I get home and get all that shit going. It’s really loads of prep and multitasking. My grandmother helps as a sous chef. Unfortunately, the pancakes turn out soggy and I throw most of it out. However, the soba turns out well and the pork belly that I slow roasted is ridiculously good. The fat rendered off well and there’s great flavor with the soy/brown sugar mix and the basting of honey.

Atron and I go into the city because we have nothing to do and it’s fucking summer. We go to Baoguette and meet Stefan. The waitress remembers giving Stefan free ice cream when he cut his finger. She does the same for us this time and doesn’t charge us for ice cream.

We then go to International to get some drinks. Stefan has to leave. It’s a good night to try out PDT so we give them our number. We then wait at the new Cienfuegos, which is at the back of a Cuban sandwich shop. We get a good seat where we see a rare sight of someone getting arrested. This young girl is just balling like crazy as they put her into the car. However, I think it was her friends that got her arrested so the one guy involved is crying his pants off. Friends are there to comfort him, what a sight.

Then we get into PDT, where this guy from San Francisco is guest bartending. Unfortunately, they don’t have their dogs, which I really want to try. Afterwards, we take the 319 back.

May 19, 2010

We go into the city again. Bolanos drives in because my brother isn’t home and took the car. We meet Josh and Evan and sit around at Hop Devil. We hang out a bit at International, which has become my stomping ground apparently. We decide to go back and find out that Bolanos’ car has been towed. A fucking stupid ass church didn’t allow parking for a 3-4 car area. We didn’t see it coming. Shit fucking shit. We take a cab to the west side and they give Bolanos the car after an expensive ticket and towing fee.

May 20, 2010

I go into the city to meet some peeps from online. We go to Motorino for dinner. Then we go some street drinking after getting a vodka at the liquor store because one of the kids is 19. We then go to Fat Cat, which I really miss. I get to meet Gabby, Kile, and Muk, good people. Elle is a cool gal as well.

We then go to the East Village and get some Led Zeppole, which I love love. We can’t go to any bars so we just stand around. I meet Bolanos and Jonah from the LCD show and then take the train back.

May 21, 2010

I’m meeting people again. I go into K Town and meet Elle, Amber, Christina, and Don (Thai) for a bite. Their kimchi bibimbap is pretty good. We meet Kit and we to a bar in the area for a few drinks. Kit drove so we meet people in the East Village at Sophies. People are nice and all. Cool people. Elle tells me about some drama that she’s been dating Kit for a month or so and he’s not making it seem like that. After a bit, we move onto a wine bar and we sit in the back. It’s close to Sophies. For some reason, I’m pissed because they’re being slow and can’t make moves. I leave “early” take the 319. I even grab some Taco Bell at Penn Station. Yummmmy!

May 22, 2010

I go to Josh’s graduation party. It’s loaded with people, his family, and parents. Good BBQ and we watch the baseball and basketball game inside. Stefan shows up for a bit. Atron speaks to Damien about doing a club night. Bolanos, Atron, and I go to Wendy’s for a bite because we ate early.

Oh and you know what, Evan and Bolanos were talking about my bad reputation. You know what, fuck it. I’m 21. We’ve all made mistakes and if haven’t, then you’re not having fun and not doing it right. Either way, I’m going to do it right and enjoy myself. And also, I’m on the fitness track these days so taking the drinking easier has been going well. Contain it to the nights that you’re actually going out and don’t get too crazy when you do.

May 27, 2010
I'm supposed to go into Bayside with Atron tonight, but Bolanos is leaving for Florida and wants to hit up the city. He drives all the time, so I end up driving today. We meet Evan at his place and they pregame a bit for his friend's birthday party. We go to the part in Tribeca and it is really lame. We leave and go to Cienfuegos because Death and Co. and PDT stopped serving. Evan has been drunk as shit since we left his dorm even though Bolanos is sober by now.
Bolanos and I are forced to drink the whole bowl of punch, which is really good, but still strong and a lot of volume. We then go to San Loco because of Evan's demands. Bad idea, shit is disgusting and overpriced. Evan goes back. Bolanos and I sit around at International for a bit before heading back.

May 28, 2010
It's been a long postponing of a club night, but finally Atron and I plan with Damien a night to go out. We meet up with Damien at Penn at 9:40ish. We head to a liquor store to sketch it out and pregame. We meet Stefan near Pacha, one of the bigger clubs in the city. We meet Candace who decided to join us.
We're pretty early so there's not really a wait. Damien got us on the list so we don't have to pay a $30 entrance. Hollah. We get in and it's a general awesome time. Dancing, sweating, all fun around with friends. Reminds me of the Prague days.
From the dancing and drinking, I'm thirsty as fuck and there's nothing to do. I don't want to get charged for water at the bar nor can I get water from the bathroom because they have staff running the bathrooms. Atron and I have a few hours are pooped out and decide to leave. We do feel a bit bad though because Damien went out of his way to club with us and we're bitching out early on him. Anyway, Atron, Candace, Stefan, and I take a cab downtown to chill out. I have a conversation with the cabbie about blues and the radio and stuff.
We immediately go to a bar where I buy the boys a tall boy. Stefan ends up calling it a night while Candace, Atron, and I continue to roam around. We check Superdive, but it's dead tonight for some reason. We go to Beauty Bar for a bit and go to the bar area dance floor before we have to cab it to Penn Station.

May 29, 2010
It's Bayside night because it was poppin' last week and Atron and I decide to test it out. However, it turns out that people must've gone to the city because it's completely dead on a Saturday. What a bummer. We walk by the dead ass bars on Little Neck and give up on the night. Fuckin' lame. I dressed and shit for this.

Darwin Goes to Taco Bell

After a day of work and only plain oatmeal, carrots, and soup, Daddy needs some grub. $2 meal deal at Taco Bell. Gordita, Doritos (disgusting), and a soda. Oh, and a few more items...
First off, Walbaum's had quality salsa on sale. I'm down. What better use than with Taco Bell?!

And look at those ingredients. Short, simple, no preservatives. Yum yum.

The Crunchy Potato Taco. I'm a huge fan of potato. Imagine it as a tater tot taco. I was pleasantly surprised by this, though I could be really nasty if the potato isn't cooked fresh.

Gordita. Not the most appealing meat, but definitely one of my favorite fast food items in a while. It's held up mostly by the huge slathering of sour cream and the really good pita bread. The bread was fluffy and soft and a real great change compared to the construction paper tacos that Taco Bell usually offers.

Grilled Steak Taco, Fresco. For those new to "Fresco," they remove the heavy sauce and cheese and give you a "Fresco" salsa instead. It actually brightens up the taco a lot with the fresh tomato, onion, and cilantro. Unfortunately, the steak is really bland and nasty. How fitting that it also looks like rat droppings...

Summer is a Coming

April 24, 2010
I wake up and go to get lunch with Kenny and Miah. For some reason, Erdem drives by to shout Hi, even though it’s out of his way to go to the city. We go to Ceriello and Douglaston Deli while Kenny gets stuff at Aegea. We stop at the park nearby to eat.
I work out during the night. Did a pretty good job, but didn’t get any cardio down. I’m still sore from that Youtube workout that I did. It’s rainy outside and I can’t run.
Erdem stays at Kenny’s playing Diablo 2. I end up staying in for the night.

April 25, 2010
I wake up and have to run an errand for mom in the city. Stefan is on the island and I pick him up. We drive into the city to grab a bite. Might as well if I’m in the city. On the way, he tells me that Elyse (Atron’s sister) got engaged yesterday. We’re in Murray Hill dropping off an envelope. On the same block as where I’m supposed to go, we run into Elyse and her fiancĂ© at the corner. Wow! What a small wold. They were looking for apartments. Stefan just mentioned her. It’s so random that I met up with Stefan and that he was on the Island. Then that he came with me. Then that he told me about her recently getting engaged. Then I had to run the errand. And they were on that corner at that time. All those things had to work out. The stars aligned.
After that, we drive down to Greenwich Village. I wanted “banh mi” and Num Pang is Cambodian sandwiches. Jonah meets up with us. Stefan and I split two different sandwiches. Afterwards, we drive down to Spot on St. Marks. Great dessert place. Afterwards, he goes back home and I drive back home.

April 31, 2010
Work has been a bit different. There are two new people and I have to sort of manage them and what they do. It’s sorta cool to be in a position where I run things.
At night, I pick up Miah to go to my house. I change and we pregame. Avi comes over and we head out to Candace’s PJ party. Man’s got a legit robe on. There’s loads of people and we get that drink one. I force our boy Miah to get some real drinking done and he gets drunk as well.
Someone breaks the glass table at one point. We leave at some point and go out to Cherry Valley. We run into Alon Elian for some reason because Avi planned it out that way somehow. That’s about it. Ya.

May 1, 2010
I’m supposed to go out to the club with Damien and Candace, but I’m too tired for that shit. I stay in instead. I’m hungry and decide to order some Domino’s. It’s been a while since I’ve stayed in, chilled out, and ordered some food. I get some thin crust for less bread. The anchovies is actually not bad on it. I chill out listening to some music, watching some TV, enjoying a gin and tonic, having some pizza, etc.

May 2, 2010
I’m running late today and Miah and I go into the city for our Taste of the East Village thing. We miss S’Mac however because it ends at 2:00, which makes no sense. However, we still make the other places on there. La Lucha Taqueria, Luke’s Lobster, Baoguette, Chickalicious dessert bar, and Xoom smoothie. After that, we drive back at 5:00ish. The traffic isn’t that bad.

May 8, 2010
I wake up hungry as usual and head over to H Mart for some sushi. Just been in the mood recently. I actually get the sushi for later and I'm full off of the samples that they have there for their East meets West festival thing. I also pick up some random stuff and kimchi. I wasn't a kimchi fan before, but shit's so healthy and bland these days. Kimchi is almost like a treat. It packs a fuck load of flavor and it's straight cabbage. Free calories, biotch.
Then, Starbucks is doing half price Fraps from 3-5:00. Done deal. Mocha light frap. No whip. It's only 200 calories for a huge Venti.
Graduation is coming up so I go to get some shoes. Payless motherfuckers, $36, done deal. After that, I see a liquor store. I grab some Fleischman's. The much anticipated Stout night is tonight. I speed home after shoes and it's 8:00. I have some sushi. I then work out a bit while chatting on Stickam with German Ela, who will be moving to the east coast to become a babysitter for a while. She puts up with me doing a creepy douche, in a sarcastic way at least.
I go to pick up Jeremiah and we stand around at my place pregaming and shit. I catch up with Corinne while getting ready, who should be going out too tonight. We walk over the 9:50 train, though not before having some awesome Tanqueray with diet Tonic, fresh lime, and fresh mint. Also with the mojito muddling going, like that Bacardi commercial.
Chilling at Stout is the usual awesomeness. Chris Q is back from his hiatus. Candace has her costumes and stuff with him. I haven't seen Theresa in forevs. Kimbo Slice is hanging with us too. Drinks are had and shit's bonkers.
Avi ends up coming through. We leave to go downtown to get some food. We're at Mamoun's. Avi paid for a round, so I get him food. I pay for it. I put my wallet in my back pocket, which I never do, but I'm carrying a sandwich and drink. I remember throwing something out in the garbage. I walk outside, hand him the food, check myself, and realize I don't have my wallet. That seriously was 20 seconds and 20 feet. Where the fuck is my wallet!? We scour. I check the garbage with my hand all the way deep inside and rummaging through it. Either I threw it in the garbage and couldn't find it. Or some douchebag picked it up in that little window of space/time. Granted, being drunk probably didn't help, but I've been drunk a billion times in the past and never have had this happen before. What a fuckin' bummer to the night. Everything was so fun and amazing and this so put a damper on it.
I get home, I call Citibank to cancel my cards. I even decide to eat because I'm starving and this is really not fun to deal with. Great for me though, nothing unhealthy in the house. I'm pissed, I'm a bit drunk, I'm not having fun, and the only thing to comfort me is frozen vegetables, chicken breast, and brown rice. Yay...

May 9, 2010
It's not all that bad in the end. The ATM/credit cards will come in a couple days. Express mail rules.
I call the police office and find out that my old ID works. It's not expired and only has "Under 21" on it until DMV sends me one in two fucking weeks. DMV fail.
NYU ID, meh, don't need it. I just bought a Metro card that night $20, but fuck it. I had like $60 on me, but I'll just count it as an expensive night. I try not to spend when I'm out like I have in the past, so go me. You live, you learn. I'm okay... Then again, I'm stuck with a wallet with velcro now.

May 11, 2010
I come home to my credit cards and ATM cards. Awesome. My grandmother comes home because she’s going to my graduation tomorrow and she finds a wallet that my brother isn’t using. It’s actually nicer than my old wallet. Awesome. Looking forward to graduation tomorrow (not really), but the fact that I will be up at Bing. Partying it up for a few days. Awesome!!
However, it’s been end of February since my last haircut. I didn’t get it cut too much, it was pretty much the perfect amount, so 2+ months later, I’m sort of due. It’s not bad, but it’s a bit long and annoying with my cap for graduation. Alright, back to the Lemon Tree. They were fine last time and it’s walking distance from my house. Fuck this, they’re closed despite saying “Open Late Weekdays” and it’s only 6:30.
Then, I see a review on Google of this Korean place on the border of Great Neck/Little Neck. It’s just a Korean guy. He immediately asks if I’m Chinese, I told you that the Asians can tell. I tell him just a little bit and I want it long. He starts in the back and I can’t see that. He starts going quite a bit. I can’t tell what’s going on though. I can’t really “feel” my hair. I also confirmed that I wanted it long.
Then, he starts with the front. I’m like “okay” these bangs are a little short, but they’re not baaad. Then he keeps trimming and trimming. I even tell him “Not too short okay?” in a nice way. I ever tell you that I hate getting haircuts? You never get what you want, but not only that, I just don’t like the process of someone being so close and just cutting your hair for such a long time. I guess the dentist is worse, but I still fucking hate the idea of the haircut. Anyway, off of my rant.
Now I’m just sitting there livid. There’s nothing I can really do. What I really should have done was just stopped him right there and not let him do more damage. Like jumped out, not paid, walked away. But hey, I just sat there with an evil on him instead. I ever tell you that I’m awkward and don’t like haircuts? Yeah, I really fucking don’t. Never fucking again. I will next time show a picture of what I want. I show in between my fingers how much I want. I sit there with a glarrrring eye. I MAKE SURE I GET WHAT I WANT. No Fucking Bad Haircuts Anymore.
I get out and I even give this motherfucking gook a $2 tip after a $15 haircut. Shit fucking place in the middle of nowhere that’s Asian and he’s charging that. And he has the balls to tell me to come back in a few months? I go back in my car, slam my fist on the steering wheel, and race home. I look at the mirror. I punch the wall. I jump in the shower, wash my hair, come out. I scream, I curse, I punch my marble sink. I try to style it a bit and it’s not the worst worst.
